Ric Speaks with the Host and Creator of Inside the Actors Studio, James Lipton! The Emmy Award®-Winning Host and Frequent TV & Movie Guest Star Discusses His Latest Projects, and What’s Next for the Popular, Long-Running Series

James Lipton is widely known as the creator, executive-producer, writer and host of Inside the Actors Studio, which is seen in 94 million homes in America on Bravo, and around the world in 125 countries. With 19 Emmy® nominations, Inside the Actors Studio is the fifth most nominated prime-time series in television history. In 2013, Inside the Actors Studio won the Emmy® for Outstanding Informational Series, and in 2016 James Lipton received the Critics Choice Award as Best Reality Series Host.

Inside the Actors Studio is in its 22nd Season, making it the second longest-running series in the history of cable-television. Since 1994, Mr. Lipton has brought to the series his experience as actor, director and producer in theater, film and television, playwright, lyricist, screenwriter, author of both fiction and nonfiction books (his memoir, “Inside Inside”, his best-selling “An Exaltation of Larks”, his novel, “Mirrors” about dance and dancers), choreographer and academician.

And now he is adding a significant new vocation: He is an inventor!

Necessity is the mother of invention – and in James Lipton’s case, years of ballet training left him with arthritic knees – and the only known solution to the problem of nighttime knee pain: Trying to sleep with a pillow between the knees. The problem with that is that the pillow migrates and now the arthritis sufferer wakes twice as often – to chase the vanishing pillow and cope with the knee pain.

The revelation came when Lipton asked himself, “What if the pillow were attached to me?” Three years of development followed, under the watchful eye of a distinguished panel of doctors – and the result is KneesEase.

This is a revolutionary concept – that works!
