This holiday season, Lifetime is bringing Wishin’ and Hopin’, Lamb’s best-selling Christmas novel, to life. Set in the 1960s, Wishin’ and Hopin’ is the story of 10-year-old Felix Funicello doing his best to navigate fifth grade at a Parochial School. His father runs the local diner, and their family’s claim to fame is their cousin Annette Funicello, the famous teen star and Mouseketeer. With the dreaded Christmas pageant on the horizon, the holiday season gets even more exciting with the sudden arrivals of a substitute teacher (Molly Ringwald) and a feisty Russian student, promising to be one Christmas that Felix will never forget. Wally Lamb’s Wishin’ and Hopin’ also stars Meat Loaf, Annabella Sciorra, Cheri Oteri, and features narration by Chevy Chase

Wally Lamb is the author of five New York Times best-selling novels, including She’s Come Undone and I Know This Much is True. Lamb also edited Couldn’t Keep it to Myself and I’ll Fly Away, two volumes of essays from students in his writing workshop at York Correctional Institution, a women’s prison in Connecticut, where he has been a volunteer facilitator for fifteen years.
