Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge on Syfy is a competition series featuring ten aspiring creature creators who will build everything from mechanical characters to whimsical beasts, bringing high-end inanimate creature designs to life. The contestants compete for a prize worth up to $100,000 including the opportunity for the job of a lifetime – a contract working at the world-renowned Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
Australian actress Gigi Edgley is at the center of the action as host of the original new series. Gigi has a rich history with The Jim Henson Company as she starred in its critically acclaimed sci-fi series Farscape as Chiana. Gigi will discuss some of the fantastical creatures viewers can expect to see on the show, working with the Henson family (Jim’s son Brian acts as the lead judge) and how the show is carrying on the extraordinary legacy of Jim Henson.
One of the contestants is Alexis Rudd. She designs stunning puppets, costumes and other creative effects at her design studio in the Redwood Forest of Northern California. Lex has been designing puppets and creatures for the industry for over 10 years.
