According to the National Safety Council, at any given time during the day, approximately 660,000 drivers are using their cell phones while behind the wheel — which, in turn, leads to 1.6 million crashes per year. Texting while driving is now responsible for one of every four accidents, and it has become the leading cause of death among teens in our country. In time for the holidays (a time when auto accidents typically rise due to the increased number of travelers), a new mobile app called messageLOUD aims to prevent this nationwide pandemic.
With messageLOUD, users can simply open the app when they get in the car and select Drive Mode. Then, all incoming texts and emails will be read out loud, so people can put their phones down and drive safely without distraction. Without ever having to look at their device, users can dismiss or delete messages, call the sender back and more.
