TIME Magazine called it an “inventive and funny… pleasant throwback, exploding with treasure” and Variety called it a “whimsical… and genuinely clever alternative to kids’ TV.” Critics everywhere are charmed by Amazon’s first original live-action kids series Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, which was written by pre-school teacher David Anaxagoras who entered his idea through Amazon’s open-door submission process. After the pilot received overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers, a full season was order was put in.
The executive producer and director of Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street is Luke Matheny, who received an Academy Award for his live-action short film God of Love. Luke — who also directed the hit IFC comedy series Maron starring comedian Marc Maron — can let parents know what to expect from this unique new series, as well as the keys to creating an engaging and educational series that even mom and dad will enjoy. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, “there are plenty of reasons why modern-day parents would want to keep their kids from watching TV, but Normal Street isn’t one of them.”
