Get ready to shake your booty! The Queen of Bounce is back. catch up with the one and only…
BIG FREEDIA
Known for helping to popularize the New Orleans genre of hip-hop called bounce music, Big Freedia is back for season three of the hit docu-style series Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, airing Wednesdays at 11 pm ET/10 CT on FUSE TV.
Cameras are invited in each week to experience the unscripted life and surprising twists and turns of this hip hop “bounce” icon. Drama, romance, the stresses of a nationwide tour and coping with the loss of his mother are a few of the themes featured in the upcoming season. Season three follows the record-breaking second season, which premiered last summer to more than triple the amount of viewers compared to the season one premiere.
Never short on headlines, Big Freedia is fresh from breaking his own record on November 15th in New Orleans for the Guinness Book of World Records™ largest simultaneous “twerking” event with 406 participants and is undoubtedly one of the “Crescent City’s” most famous, larger-than-life personalities.
Big Freedia has gone from a local New Orleans phenomenon to a national one over the past two years. After appearing in two episodes of HBO series Treme [as himself] and in 2010, he released his debut EP on Scion A/V Presents: Big Freedia.
Big Freedia (pronounced “FREE-da”), known as the Queen of Bounce, is at the forefront of the Bounce rap movement (a subgenre of hip-hop born out of New Orleans and known for its call and response style and lightning speed booty-shaking dance). Performing five out of seven nights in any given week with dancers he calls The Divas, Big Freedia’s show is nothing short of dazzling. He tours every city in America from New York to San Francisco and is always a favorite at festivals such as Electric Forest, Hangout Fest, FunFunFun Fest, SXSW, and Bonnaroo, among many others.
