Math Is Wonderful by Fred Hardwicke MD

This mathematics book is organized and useful. It departs from the usual pragmatic avenues of math and explores math topics that are only lightly touched on in school. It is a readable and somewhat humorous account that leads readers into a new sense of wonder about the mathematical world that is only a few calculations away. It is appropriate for both high school and college students, and it is an enjoyable read for those who haven’t been to school in decades as well.
Fred Hardwicke taught medicine, hematology, oncology, and a little bit of math for 21 years in Lubbock, Texas at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He was honored with the Internal Medicine Teacher of the Year award in 2004. Now he continues his work in cancer medicine in a unique rural setting. He currently lives with his wife, Beth, in Childress. He has three children and two granddaughters.
