Jennifer Bartels and Lil Rel Howery, stars of truTV’s first ever sketch-comedy series “Friends of the People”

Jennifer Bartels, hailed as one of the nation’s ‘Top 5 Funniest Women’ by the NY Daily News.

Lil Rel Howery is the star of the upcoming comedy series The Carmichael Show.

Together, these two comedians are teaming with a host of other funny folks in truTV’s fresh and hilarious take on sketch comedy, Friends of the People.

Friends of the People, truTV’s first-ever sketch-comedy series, is back Thursdays at 10:30pm ET/PT. In the show, comedians Kevin Barnett, Jennifer Bartels, Jermaine Fowler, Lil Rel Howery, The Lucas Bros. and Josh Rabinowitz provide unique sketch comedy, with a combination of scripted scenes, man-on-the-street segments and more.

Jen Bartels is the lone female in the cast, holding her own with the other six male cast members. A graduate of East Carolina University, she was cast in the FOX Reboot of In Living Color. She can be seen on the web series, Exes, which she co-created with UCB star Mike Still. Jen writes, stars and executive produces Friends of the People.

Chicago native Lil Rel Howery has been seen on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and his show stopping performances on Comedy Central’s Russell Simmons Presents Stand-Up at The El Rey, among many other comedy shows. He is also set to star alongside Jerrod Carmichael and David Alan Grier in the upcoming NBC comedy series The Carmichael Show. This year, Rel performed his first stand up special RELevent, produced by Kevin Hart, on Comedy Central. Rel writes, stars and executive produces Friends of the People.
