Known primarily as a womanizer, Giacomo Casanova (Luna) actually served as a spy for the Parisian government. The show begins after he breaks free from Venice’s most impenetrable prison and moves to Paris with nothing—determined to start his life over after his wild ways left him behind bars. Following a journey full of passionate romance and incredible danger, the series will reveal the other side of the infamous Venetian, whose talents ranged from diplomacy to music to linguistics. The series pulls back the curtain on the real life adventures of Casanova and is directed by Oscar® nominee Jean Pierre Jeunet (Amelie).
Diego Luna is a Mexican actor known for his childhood telenovela work, a starring role in the film Y Tu Mamá También and supporting roles in American films, including The Terminal, Elysium and Milk. He also starred in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights and provides the Spanish language narration for the National Geographic Channel documentary Great Migrations.
He and childhood friend, Gael Garcia Bernal, co-founded Ambulante A.C., their organization and film festival that works to bring documentary films to places where they are rarely shown.
