Born in West Africa, Michael Blackson — the self-dubbed “African King of Comedy” — has been called one of the most original comics in the country. Inspired by Eddie Murphy, Blackson first honed his comedy chops in the clubs of Philadelphia back in 1992. Recalling life experiences from his native country of Ghana, Blackson began to amass a loyal following, and was featured in BET’s ComicView, HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, Showtime at Harlem, Live in Hollywood and more. It was his breakout role in the smash comedy Next Friday starring Ice Cube that earned him critical praise and a massive international fan base.
Off the stage, there is never a dull moment in Michael’s personal life, thanks to his four boys and passionate relationship with Grammy® nominated singer-songwriter Georgia Reign. They moved in together after only a few weeks of dating and have been acting like a married couple ever since. Despite his professional success, Michael always wants more, but his family and girlfriend seem to take the front seat.
