A young girl named Megan Margo O’Brien dreams of one day becoming America’s first female president in the new novel by Sandra L. Carroll, “Madam President” (published by Abbott Press).
“(The book) is about a strong, determined woman who is politically successful and shows that with drive and ambition you can turn your dreams into reality,” Carroll says. “I believe the United States will elect a woman president in the very near future.”
“Madam President” is the story of Megan, a young woman who begins her career serving as Staff Judge Advocate in the Air Force JAG Corps. Following her service, she returns to private life and practices family law in Minnesota, eventually becoming the state’s first female senator. Despite living in a man’s world, Megan’s strength and determination yield her a successful political career that turns her dream of occupying the oval office into a reality.
Also touching on current events such as the war in Afghanistan, women’s rights and physical and sexual assault against women, Carroll’s new book means to inspire hope and empower women everywhere to pursue goals, however large or small those goals are.
“A woman president isn’t a dream, it’s the future,” Carroll says. “Women need to believe in themselves and know there is nothing wrong with being strong, confident and independent.”
Sandra L. Carroll is retired from county government. Working in the judicial system gave her unique insights into what women endure professionally and personally. She has two sons and lives in Stuart, Fla., with family members. “Madam President” is her first novel.
