John Shope and Kody McNew from HISTORY’s “Biker Battleground Phoenix”

Two of the country’s best “Baggers” – John Shope and Kody McNew – give you a never-before-seen look at how adrenaline, craftsmanship and rivalries determine who’s who among the country’s top bike builders in HISTORY’S
Biker Battleground Phoenix.

The series follows five of the most talented and ambitious bad boys of the custom bike business in Phoenix, AZ, the custom bike building capital of the world. It’s a place where shop owners compete non stop for customers willing to pay upwards of $150,000 for a fully personalized Bagger motorcycle. Just what is a Bagger? In simple terms it is a motorcycle with saddlebags. But the term also refers to enthusiastic, passionate, long term riders who appreciate comfort and function over fashion statement.

Catch up with two of the best Baggers in the business: John Shope of Dirty Bird Concepts. He is the self-proclaimed “King of Baggers,” known for having a hot head and cool designs. He started as an artist and sculptor before entering the custom bike business in the 80s, modifying, building and fabricating custom Harleys. Kody McNew of Voodoo Bikeworks is a new-comer to the custom bagger scene.

In 2013, Kody was the surprise winner at Sturgis taking top honors in the “First Place Build” category and the prestigious “Best of Paint” awards in the Easy Rider’s Bagger Show. With those wins under his belt, he has become and overnight success and is one of the strongest contenders on the scene.
