Created by and starring the Denver-based comedy troupe The Grawlix, Those Who Can’t is the first-ever scripted series on truTV. The uproarious comedy follows three inept, trouble-making teachers who try to beat the system as they struggle to survive each day on their own terms. Joining them is Maria Thayer as Abbey Logan, the school librarian with an insuppressible passion for life. Although Abbey wasn’t popular in high school, she doesn’t consider herself “damaged,” and believes her past has nothing to do with her recent divorce or her crippling sugar addiction.
Those Who Can’t guest stars include Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Susie Essman (Curb Your Enthusiasm), T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley), Peter Stormare (Fargo) and Michael Madson (Reservoir Dogs).
PAPER magazine named Maria one of the top eight women in comedy who will take over the world. She stars in the upcoming film Table 19 alongside Anna Kendrick and Lisa Kudrow, and recently starred in the horror comedy Night of the Living Deb. Her other film credits include State of Play, Accepted, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Hitch, Storytelling, and the independent Let Go.
Originally from Boring, Oregon (really), Maria received her television break in Strangers With Candy. She starred in Adult Swim’s series, Eagle Heart, and also appeared in The League, New Girl, Arrested Development, Gotham, Portlandia, Married, American Dad!, Maron, Louie, 30 Rock and more.
