HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Ric talks with writer, director and actor Joe Swanberg, the prolific filmmaker whose family dramedy Happy Christmas had its world premiere at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. The film stars Academy Award® nominee Anna Kendrick (Up In The Air), Melanie Lynskey (Heavenly Creatures, “Two and a Half Men”), Mark Webber (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and Golden Globe® winner Lena Dunham (“Girls”).

Swanberg’s directing credits include Drinking Buddies with Olivia Wilde and Ron Livingston, Hannah Takes the Stairs with Greta Gerwig and Mark Duplass and the breakout horror film V/H/S.

In Happy Christmas, Swanberg explores both sibling relationships and the choices women face in young families. Kelly, a budding novelist (Melanie Lynskey) and her film director husband, Jeff (Joe Swanberg), live a peaceful existence with their two-year-old son. But when Jeff’s irresponsible younger sister, Jenny (Anna Kendrick), comes to live with them after a breakup, things start to change.
